Bandweaver Technologies is proud to announce that they have been shortlisted for the Active/Passive Fire Project of the Year at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards 2021, following the work undertaken in association with BTS Yangin and Karan Textiles.

The Security and Fire Excellence Awards are an annual event that celebrates the very best people, projects and processes in the security and fire sectors. Now in their twenty second year, the prestigious awards consistently break new ground in recognising passion, accomplishment, and brilliance within the industry.

Richard Kluth, Managing Director of Bandweaver Technologies commented, “After successful trials, our partner BTS Yangin and the textile manufacturer installed the FireLaser LHD system – a best-in-class solution that provides quick and precise fire detection. We’re delighted to see the project has received this recognition and are looking forward to attending the event.”

Operating in very harsh environments, with high levels of cotton and textile dust, Karan Textiles in Turkey were experiencing an increase in fire detection faults and failures due to malfunctioning point smoke detectors.

Mr. Mahmut Karaca, Technical & Operational Manager, Karan Textiles commented, “Karan trialled a number of different fire detection technologies and the FireLaser LHD system installed by BTS Yangin was the best system to provide complete coverage, early detection and able to operate in challenging environmental conditions.”

With a lifespan potential of greater than 30 years, and low levels of maintenance, the system will now provide enhanced levels of protection for the owner, effectively minimising risk. The client will also benefit from minimal service and maintenance costs, lowering the overall cost of ownership.

The FireLaser fiber optic Linear Heat Detection (LHD) system has now been installed across five of Karan Textiles facilities, totalling more than 120,000 sqm of coverage. BTS Yangin, alongside Adal Consultants, chose the product as a dependable and economically viable fire detection solution for the client.

“The FireLaser LHD system has been deployed across a wide range of industries. It is the number one detection technology within road tunnels but increasingly is becoming the technology of choice for challenging environments such as factories, warehouses, hangars and power cables where traditional smoke and heat sensors have issues.” – Levent Ceylan, President of the Technical Committee for Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, Turkish Fire Association (Tuyak)

Congratulations to all the staff involved in this project, which has resulted in the nomination for the awards. The team are looking forward to attending the event, which is set to take place at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on 23 November.
